You've heard the phrase, "There's a new sheriff in town," but in this case, it's a new court judicial district for Perry County as we approach the next general election in 2022.
In August of 2022, we will be electing more than our General Sessions Judge, a position currently held by Judge Katarina V. Moore. We are currently part of the 21st Judicial District, along with Hickman, Lewis, and Williamson counties, which was formed when all the counties in this district had a similar demographic makeup. That is no longer the case. Williamson County has grown far faster and larger than all the other counties combined, and no longer has the same concerns. There is a vast difference in the socio-economic concerns of Williamson County and the other three counties.

The kinds of cases handled by General Sessions Court vary from county to county. While there may be differences between counties, the General Sessions Court in Perry County handles both criminal and civil cases in Perry County and, in addition, Judge Moore presides over Juvenile Court.
